Btw, when I wrote this a week ago the cooler weather that is moving into the state today (Sept. 13) wasn't yet in the forecast, at least the forecast I saw. It's supposed to rain today, but fire-whipping winds are also predicted. Let's hope the rain comes first.
Wind-whipped fire threatens Lake McDonald Lodge
The Flathead Beacon is reporting high winds are forecast ahead of the cold front moving into Montana today. Pre-evacuation orders have been issued for West Glacier and Apgar, and fire crews are stationed at Lake McDonald Lodge to protect the historic structure in case the Sprague Fire turns in that direction. We've already lost the Sperry Chalet. We need rain bad, not wind.
